Coronation Street's Luca Toolan featured in devastating scenes on the ITV soap on Monday night, as his character Mason Radcliffe was killed off. The school bully who turned his life around debuted at the end of 2023. However, fame runs in the family, with his father Mike Toolan being a well-known radio DJ on Hits Radio, where he works alongside other soap stars like Brooke Vincent from Coronation Street and Gemma Atkinson from Hollyoaks.
Away from the cobbles, Luca Toolan shares his family home with his famous father. The familial connection was a surprise for many Coronation Street fans, as evidenced by recent social media chatter, reports OK!. After a recent episode featuring Mason in court, Luca's dad Mike, currently co-hosting Hits Radio's drive time show, posted a picture of his son receiving his verdict on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter ), captioned: "Guilty! I knew it!".
He followed up with: "What an episode @coronationstreet Bloody amazing acting all round [clapping emojis]. And Liam's face in the 2nd pic," to which Luca responded: "Thanks Dad.". However, Luca's co-star Simon Gregson, better known as Steve McDonald, couldn't resist a joke: "I blame the parents here looks wrongun.".
During Luca's appearance on This Morning in February, presenter Rochelle Humes also highlighted his famous lineage, exclaiming: "I know your dad! Sorry, I didn't know it was that Mike! When we were in [The Saturdays] we used to do radio tours and we always used to see your dad. Sorry, that took me by surprise.".
