On Sunday night, Dancing on Ice returned to screens as the competition nears its grand finale. With six stars left in the show, each are doing their best to impress both the judges and viewers at home. Last week, ITV fans saw the return of the dreaded skate-off following three weeks of instant eliminations. Despite earning respectable scores of 34 and 32, Anton Ferdinand and Chris Taylor found themselves in the bottom. In the end, Chris was eliminated and become the fourth star to leave the show.
However, as the competition continued on Sunday night hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern informed people watching that tonight was 80s themed. The duo were seen in full 80s attire, although Stephen seemed to go a bit overboard. Wearing a blonde wig, which was styled in the 80s do, Stephen wore a light blue suit and dark blue aviator sunglasses with a patterned shirt underneath. While Holly looked glamourous in a floor-length ballgown which was covered in blue and pink gems.
As they introduced the show, Holly said: "Right, we're going to have to do this early because I can barely look at you! Can you just talk me through what's going on here?". Stephen replied: "I will talk you through it actually, yes. I phoned you on Wednesday, we said we were going to do 80s on Sunday. You look incredible.". Holly informed him the dress she was wearing was vintage 80s before commenting on his look. She added: "You look like you've fully committed! Help us all.".
Her response earned a laugh from those in the live studio audience before detailing some big changes happening in the show. Stephen revealed that for the first time this series, the couple's will be skating against each other in teams. Holly replied: "With more points on offer and the competition so close this year, it could have a massive effect on the leaderboard.". Taking to the ice first was BBC's Michaela Strachan and her partner Mark Hanretty. However, it was Stephen's outfit which seemed to have viewers talking on social media.
One person said: "80s night …. Stephen is certainly dressed for the occasion." Another added: "Is that a George Michael wig?". Someone else wrote: "What does Stephen look like…" One fan commented: "OMG What is Stephen wearing?". Another tweeted: "I do think the best part of #DancingOnIce is the duo of Holly & Stephen." With another adding: "Stephen’s wig.". Dancing on Ice continues Sunday on ITV from 6:30pm.
