Dave Gorman’s series Modern Life Is Goodish is missing an episode because of its focus on TV presenter Gregg Wallace. The former BBC presenter, 60, stepped back from MasterChef at the end of 2024 after a variety of complaints and accusations came to light – which he has denied.

It was alleged Wallace made ‘inappropriate sexual jokes’ and lewd comments on set, asked for the phone numbers of female members of production staff, and undressed in front of women working on set. It has now been revealed that an episode of a TV show was entirely axed because of his involvement.

‘We made four [episodes]’ Gorman told The Guardian. ‘But one of them is 75% about Gregg Wallace. It’s in the bin.’. The episode was completed just before the allegations against Wallace broke and invalidated the ‘cult hero status’ the sketch was drawing on.

‘It’s sort of taking the p**s out of him but in a very loving way, tongue in cheek.’. He explained the comic sketch in more detail: ‘There’s a routine that sets up the idea that I’ve invented a product. I need to get a celebrity endorsement for it. The punchline tying all the routines together is that he’s filmed an advert for it.’.
Gorman added that they tried to remove mentions of Wallace in order to salvage the episode – but it was fruitless. ‘It’s a structured piece with a flow to it. Every routine connects to every other routine.’ Gorman then joked: ‘What I’m saying is: I’m the real victim.’.
The 53-year-old comic show Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish originally ran for five seasons between 2013 and 2017. The episodes usually revolve around Gorman presenting a stand-up show using PowerPoint on a specific theme about modern life such as celebrity culture or social media.
The series is set to be revived this year with a sixth season and will now feature just three episodes instead of the intended four episodes.
