NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal shared a hilarious tale about the time he found David Beckham's wallet in Los Angeles. As one of the giants of basketball, O'Neal has an impressive collection of four NBA championships to his name, three with the Los Angeles Lakers and one with the Miami Heat.
Football superstar Beckham, who made headlines with his move to LA Galaxy from Real Madrid in 2007, has since become a co-owner of Inter Miami and has been instrumental in attracting football heavyweights like Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez to the club.
During a memorable chat on 'The Late Late Show with James Corden', O'Neal, sitting alongside Beckham's wife Victoria, recounted the Beverly Hills incident with a touch of humour. He comically described how he initially thought to keep the cash from the wallet he found until he realised it was Beckham's. "I was walking one day in Beverly Hills and I found a wallet," said O'Neal. "Usually when I find wallets I just take all the money out and I just throw them, but this was a nice wallet.".
After identifying Beckham from the ID inside, O'Neal opted not to hand it over to a desk clerk, choosing instead to track down Beckham himself to return it. "First I played a joke, I was like 'I have your wallet, it's going to cost you a million dollars to get it back', but he knew it was me. [Beckham said] 'Shaq, stop playing'. I was like 'Dave, I found your wallet'.".
