David Schwimmer has hit out at Elon Musk for not taking action following Kanye West's string of shocking and hate-filled tweets, where he claimed to identify as a Nazi and spoke positively about Adolf Hitler. Friends actor David, who player Ross Geller in the iconic American sitcom, declared that 'silence is complicity' as he urged Elon, who owns X, to ban Kanye from the platform, which was formerly known as Twitter.
Sharing a tweet of his own following Kanye's several posts, David wrote: "This is so 2022. We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk. Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X.". "That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews." He continued: "I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point. Silence is complicity." Elon does not seem to have responded to David's requests.
Father-of-four Kanye has shared dozens of anti-semitic posts mocking the Jewish community, and even close of friends of his who are Jews – before claiming that he has "never trusted them". In his series of tweets, one read, "I LOVE HITLER. NOW WHAT B***ES." He quickly followed it up with: "LETS SEE IF YALL GIVE THAT MONEY BACK," before adding: "IM A NAZI.". He also went on to outrageously claim he was racist: "IM RACIST STEREO TYPES EXIST FOR A REASON AND THEY ALL BE TRUE," he claimed as he reiterated his previous derogatory comments about Jewish people. It comes after Kanye hit headlines when he attended the Grammy awards last week with his wife Bianca Censori, who walked the red carpet in a see-through dress.
The stunt went down so badly that there were reports the couple had been 'escorted out' of the music awards. While concerned fans watching the live stream from home also demanded the couple be reprimanded for their actions as they branded them 'creepy and disturbing'. Addressing the controversial moment on social media afterwards, Kanye wrote in all caps: "My wife being covered at the Grammys would have been chauvinist but thus was a fire beginning to the evening." Continuing his social media rant, Kanye posted multiple photographs of Bianca from the red carpet, with the caption: "BADDEST B***H EVER.".
In another photo which showed Bianca in the see-through dress without her coat, Kanye wrote: "WE BEEN HERE FOR FIVE MINUTES" Alongside another photo, he wrote: "COME ON BABE, LETS GO F**K IN THE CAR." He then shared screenshots of Bianca's afterparty dress - which was also see-through - with the caption: "MY BABY MADE IT TO MY FAVOURITE WEBSITE.".
