Demi Moore revealed how Ashton Kutcher humiliated her during their marriage by sharing pictures of her drunk and passed out as she battled alcoholism. The Hollywood actress had been sober for 20 years but fell into depression when she miscarried a baby with Ashton six months into her pregnancy. Struggling to cope with the loss of their unborn child and blaming herself for the tragedy, Demi started drinking again before turning to prescription medication.

Demi, who is enjoying a career renaissance thanks to her BAFTA and Oscar nominated movie Substance. The feminist body-horror sees the now 62-year-old actress at her most vulnerable - up close and with nude scenes as she portrays the desperation of a fading star clutching onto their fading youth. Away from the camera, Demi's life has been as turbulent as any Hollywood blockbuster, surviving addiction and loss and enduring marriages to two of tinsel town's most famous men at the height of their powers - Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.

In her tell-all autobiography Inside Out, Demi spoke with great honesty about her failed marriages, revealing how she found happiness again with 'toy boy' Ashton - who was 15 years her junior - before things turned sour as she tried in vain to 'be the girl he wanted'. "I wanted to be that girl. The girl who could have a glass of wine at dinner, or do a tequila shot at a party. In my mind, Ashton wanted that, too. So I tried to become that: a fun, normal girl," she wrote.

But recovering alcoholic Demi says she struggled to know her limits "When you don't have an off switch, you go until you can't go anymore," she said. The Ghost actress recalls a night away with Ashton and some friends for her 45th birthday. The party started with an intimate dinner before the group started downing tequlia shots and wound up drunk in a hot tub. "I started passing out and slipping under the water. If other people hadn't have been there I would have drowned, says Demi. She says husband Ashton was 'furious' and picked her up and carried her back to their bedroom.

"It was [..] confusing," recalls Demi. "Ashton had encouraged me to go in this direction. When I went too far, though, he let me know how he felt by showing a picture he'd taken of me resting my head on the toilet the night before. It seemed like a good natured joke at the time. But it was really just shaming.". While Demi's sobriety battle was kept behind closed doors, she hit the headlines in 2009 when Ashton shared a picture of her bum on the internet. The couple were holidaying in the Turks and Caicos Islands where they attended the wedding of Demi's ex-husband Bruce Willis to model Emma Heming.

When they were back in their hotel room, Ashton took a snap of Demi bending over wearing just her pants before sharing it with the world via Twitter. "Shhh don't tell wifey," said Ashton in the caption. When the former Punk'd star came under fire, Ashton said in his defence: "Let's back off a notch. It was a bikini, not underwear, so people might have been confused. She was ironing my pants. That sounds weird, but we were on a beach and she was wearing a bikini, ironing my pants! I took a picture of her and asked her before I put it out to the world. And then I sent it really quick. It's a good butt - it's a really good butt. And people saw it. You could see that at the beach.".

The pair were married from 24 September 2005 and split in 2011 before finalising their divorce on 26 November 2013. Demi announced her decision to divorce Ashton after reports surfaced that he allegedly cheated on her during the weekend of their sixth anniversary while she was away working on the film Another Happy Day. Speaking about their marriage, that saw them endure rounds of IVF and a miscarriage, Ashton said: "Losing a kid that you think you’re going to have, and that close to thinking you’re going to have a kid, is really, really painful. “Everyone deals with that in different ways. For whatever reason, I had to have that experience,” but admits, “Nothing makes you feel like a failure like divorce.”.
