Eamonn Holmes, the seasoned presenter from GB News, left his colleague Ellie Costello speechless with his damning critique of Prince Louis' new snap of Princess Kate for World Cancer Day. The broadcast brought together former MPs Jonathan Ashworth and Anna Firth to weigh in on the subject, reports the Express. But, shocking the assembled guests and his co-host, Eamonn remarked: "Ellie, like most people will be very supportive of it and say it's lovely and everything else. But I think that's hideous".
Ellie and the others appeared taken aback, with Eamonn elaborating: "It's absolutely hideous, I think it's scary." A stunned Ellie managed to utter: "What!" while Anna queried: "You don't like that photo do you?". Not mincing his words, the veteran host added: "It's like from a ghost film. What's inspirational about that?" His co-host countered with: "She looks like she's celebrating," only for Eamonn to sharply retort: "She looks like she's nailed to a cross".
Amid the collective gasps, Anna leapt to the defence of the Royal, explaining: "She's standing on a tree that fallen down, she's on top of it and she's standing there, she's stoic, she still going, she's joyfully in her recovery and remission". Nonetheless, Eamonn remained unswayed, pointing out that Kate was atop a "dead tree," and going on: "What is inspirational about that? Well I'm just saying because I know no one else will say it, I think it's a hideous-looking picture.".
Anna was punching for Princess Kate still and said: "That may not be the best view of it because when you see it online, it's a beautifully wintery morning. We've all gone out with our kids and walked along logs, and she's holding out her arms to embrace everybody who's had cancer.". Jonathan was in agreement, saying: "I think it a fabulous image, and of course, it's taken by Prince Louis, who is six". But Eamonn would not be convinced, adding: "I don't think he's got an eye for photography.".
Kensington Palace released the photograph, featuring Princess Catherine standing on a felled tree in a wintery wood, ahead of World Cancer Day (4th Feb). The picture was snapped by Prince Louis and was accompanied by words written by Kate: "Don't forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease.". Kate announced in January that she is now in remission from cancer, following a course of chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Catherine has become the hospital's joint royal patron, with Prince William already a patron. Diana, Princess of Wales, had been a previous royal patron.
