EastEnders has offered a first look at the aftermath of a tragic week on the Square, with 16 brand new spoiler pictures confirming the emotional scenes to come. The BBC One soap, as viewers know, celebrated its 40th anniversary this week with an explosive week packed full of drama.

The culprit who attacked Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was revealed as none other than mother-in-law Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) met his demise and the Queen Vic exploded into pieces. Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), meanwhile, opened up about his struggle with depression while brother Grant (Ross Kemp) proved unhelpful in offering support, much to the dismay of Nigel (Paul Bradley).

In emotional scenes, filmed live, Martin Fowler (James Bye) died in the arms of one true love Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) as Walford came to a stand still, horrified by what had unfolded. While much of next has been kept under wraps in order to preserve the twists of this week until they aired on screen, what we can tell you is that Monday (February 24) will see a new dawn beckon on Albert Square as the community attempts to process the events of the previous day – and the enormity of what transpired.

Grant, meanwhile, continues to face the wrath of Nigel over how he treated Phil when he needed him the most. And it’s not just Nigel who gives Grant a piece of their mind, with the other Mitchells getting involved too. Grant gets set to leave but he ultimately gets some words of wisdom from an unlikely source.

Nigel, meanwhile, reveals his dementia diagnosis, leaving Grant in shock as he seeks solace from the only person he believes will help him. It’s going to be an emotional week on the Square!. EastEnders airs these scenes between Monday February 24 and Thursday February 27 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
