Whether you want to call it a glorified DLC or a standalone survival spinoff, Elden Ring Nightreign has our collective attention with its shakeup of the soulsliike formula. Elden Ring Nightreign finally has a release date with FromSoftware making the announcement today, as previews of the spin-off title go live. After seven hours hands-on with the game, we described it as "a large pinch of battle royale, a hint of hero shooter and a dash of roguelike to create something accessible enough to attract newcomers, while still retaining just enough of the addictive, punishing elements of the genre to keep soulslike veterans engaged" in our preview.
If you signed up for the Elden Ring Nightreign network test, you might just be able to try it out for yourself this weekend, with select players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S who signed up being able to dive into a handful of play sessions over the course of Friday, February 14 through to Monday, February 17. Bear in mind that registration is now closed, but if you're one of the chosen, you can preload the Elden Ring Nightreign network test now so you're ready to dive in as soon as the first session opens up.
But on to the news itself – the launch date of the full game. FromSoftware has revealed that the Elden Ring Nightreign release date is May 30, 2025 with a brand new trailer to mark the occasion which you can check out below.. Compared to FromSoftware's past titles, the time between the network test and the Elden Ring Nightreign release date is the shortest yet, with games like Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 2 and 3 launching five months after their network tests; this time around, players only have to wait three months before they can dive into the full game. Given it was only announced The Game Awards last December, the overall wait itself is going to be blissfully short as well.
