Emmerdale’s April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) told Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) that she wasn’t ready to discuss what happened to her baby, urging the couple to leave her alone. The teen, as viewers know, gave birth to a stillborn baby while living on the streets, having run away from Smithy Cottage on Christmas Day. Marlon and Rhona reported her as missing over the festive season and, after a month of seatching, they were told that their beloved daughter had been found – and that she’d been through quite the ordeal.

The reunion was a tough one, with the concerned parents worried about saying or doing the wrong thing as April attempted to process everything that she’d been through. Rhona wondered whether it would be a good idea for April to go and see the baby at the hospital and say a proper goodbye, with Marlon subsequently asking her if that’s something she’d like to do. April agreed but found herself unable to stay in the room longer than a few moments, while Marlon broke down in tears, telling the baby that he was sorry that he never got to meet her.

Upon returning home to Smithy Cottage, April stated that she hated being at the hospital and that she only went to ‘shut Marlon and Rhona up’. Marlon was left worried that he’d done the wrong thing and, in Tuesday’s (February 11) edition of the ITV soap, he and Rhona attempted to offer further support to April, who voiced her desire for some space.
After giving it some thought, Rhona and Marlon headed to her room to talk about registering the baby’s birth but April reiterated that she’s simply not ready to even think let alone talk about what she’d been through. The teen told Rhona to go ahead register her daughter’s birth and death if she wanted to – but urged them leave her alone. Will April be able to open up about what she’s been through?.
