Stephen Graham, a titan of television drama, can often be seen with his wife Hannah Walters on screen with the pair starring in Disney+'s hit drama A Thousand Blows. The six-part series dives into the tales of 1880s icons, featuring Malachi Kirby as boxer Hezekiah Moscow and Erin Doherty as gang leader Mary Carr.
Peaky Blinders' genius Steven Knight is the brains behind it all, and Stephen Graham stars as the formidable boxer Henry "Sugar" Goodson. While acting gigs tend to whisk stars away from family, Hannah Walters is often close by, as the couple has a knack for collaborating professionally.
Although not frequently seen beside her 51-year-old husband in scenes, Walters also joins the cast of A Thousand Blows, bringing to life the character Eliza from the Forty Elephants gang. Walters, having met Graham during their studies at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in Sidcup, first joined forces with him on-screen in the iconic series This Is England, where she began as a "shoe shop assistant" and evolved into the role of Trudy throughout the franchise, whilst Graham played the notorious Combo.
And when Stephen Graham appeared as Scrum in the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Walters had a part as a "woman at The Captain's Daughter" in 2011. She continued the partnership with an appearance as Beatrice, sister to pirate Pierre "Pig" Kelly portrayed by Ken Radley, in the sequel Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017.
In the past seven years, the 49-year-old actress has seen her roles alongside her husband grow in prominence. While Graham made waves as wrestler Mark Bolton in the comedy 'Walk Like A Panther', she portrayed Gloria Giles opposite him, and in the BBC's gritty drama 'Boiling Point', Walters baked up a storm as pastry chef Emily to his head chef Andy.
She continued to share the screen with Graham in BBC's 'Time', playing his character Eric McNally's wife, Sonia McNally, where the pair also shone behind the scenes as executive producers for both that show and 'Boiling Point'. However, Walters isn't afraid to step out solo, appearing in productions like 'Whitechapel', 'Code of a Killer', 'No Offence', and ITV's 'Malpractice'.
Graham has openly praised his wife's influence on his career choices, admitting at the BAFTA Sessions panel: "I'm dyslexic, so I struggle. My missus actually reads the script and says whether or not I'm doing it. She's made some good choices. "I have to read it and read it and read it, then make it look like it's the first time I'm saying it.".
