Shoppers have gone wild with excitement after a beloved chocolate brand released a new chocolate egg just in time for Easter. Terry's, which originated in York, is known for dominating the confectionery market at Christmas with their famous festive chocolate oranges. However, after announcing the exciting news on Instagram last week, it appears the British brand is hoping to also be a firm favourite at Easter after releasing the brand new chocolate orange cream filled egg.
The 34g solid egg is filled with a vibrant orange cream, similar to its well-known competitor the Cadbury's Creme Egg, which has dominated the market since the 60s under its old name, Fry's. Advertising the new treat on its website, the chocolatier recommended: 'Bite your way into the creamy, tangy, orangey, centre of our new Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cream Filled Egg. Perfect for Easter egg hunts and snacking alike.'.
The egg will make for an inexpensive Easter treat for under £1, with retailers selling it between 65p and 75p. However, some fans said the egg was 'overhyped', especially as a full chocolate orange from the brand costs just over £1. It comes just in time for Easter, which falls on April 20 this year, and is available to buy in supermarkets across the UK. Terry's Chocolate, which originated in York, have just released their new product, an orange cream filled egg.
The new sweet treats can be bought from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Co-op, Waitrose, Iceland, B&M and Poundland. Fans soon flocked to the comments to express their thoughts on the new chocolatey product. They wrote: 'Oh my God... I need this in my life';. 'I made chocolate brownies with these the other day. Hard to find them in stock anywhere though';. 'They are so good. Just had a taste today';.
'Definitely going to be scoffing these!'. Some have already tried the treat, with positive reviews flooding in online. Food and snack reviewer @Snack_App15 rated it a 10/10 and wrote on X, formerly Twitter: 'This is absolutely amazing!. It is a 34g solid egg filled with vibrant orange cream, similar to its competitor, Cadbury 's Creme Egg. Terry's announced the new treat last week, launching in supermarkets just in time for Easter.
Terry's Chocolate revealed the news of their new product on Instagram which sent fans crazy. Many chocolate lovers have reviewed the egg and said it was 'amazing' and 'delicious'. 'Lovely orange truffle like marzipan texture in the middle and surrounded by thick and crunchy chocolate. This is probably better than the original in my opinion.'. However, some said they wanted the middle to be creamier, saying it was more similar to marzipan.
'Would have preferred the middle to be gooeyyyy,' one wrote. 'It's absolutely delicious but the middle should be creamier,' a second penned. Another took aim at the egg's price point, writing: 'Why buy a 75p Terry’s chocolate orange egg when you can get a full Terry’s chocolate orange for £1.25!? They’re overhyped imo.'. Others complained that they haven't been able to find the eggs yet, despite searching in their local stores.
Many fans of the chocolate brand expressed their excitement, but others said they were disappointed because they expected the centre to be creamier. Last August, Terry's divided opinion when they released their solid milk chocolate ball, which has no flavouring. This is distinctly different from the many products that the company have previously released, as they are known for their distinctive orange flavouring.
The confectionery is a chocolate orange without the orange, otherwise dubbed a 'norange'. The decision to introduce the new flavour stemmed from the success of Terry's Chocolate Mint Ball, which the company launched last year in time for Christmas and sold out mid-season. Terry's confirmed that the new flavour will not be a limited-edition release, meaning it's a permanent member of the Terry's Chocolate Ball family and will be available beyond the festive season.
