Fans have gone wild for the latest Easter offering from Waitrose and have 'sprinted' to the supermarket to grab one particularly appealing sweet treat ahead of the holiday period. The 'egg', which is actually fashioned into the shape of a pastry, has a thick blonde chocolate shell which has a toffee-like taste. Shoppers have gone wild for the treat after it hit UK shelves at the luxury supermarket - however some have been left disappointed that it's hollow as they call for more of the product. One reviewer, who posts under the handle @bigdaddybsfoods, described the egg as the best blonde chocolate he'd ever tried.

He said: 'It's the exact same chocolate on the outside as the viral pistachio egg. 'It's so creamy, so indulgent. it's so well-balanced. The actual chocolate is nice and thick too - super rich and the milk chocolate crumb gives it a bit of crunch and texture to it. Fans have gone wild for the latest Easter offering from Waitrose and have 'sprinted' to the supermarket to grab the sweet treat. 'Overall, I think this tastes amazing. I will say I think it's a little bit overpriced for what it is but the quality is there for sure.'.

This tastes like Caramilk and it has bits of toffee or something in it.'. She added: 'It tastes exactly like Caramilk, it's like a caramel-flavoured milk chocolate. That is amazing. 'This would be such a good Easter egg and I'm sorry - that's so creative and the detail on this is actually amazing.

Leanne (@leannelovescooking) was also a fan of the treat and added it to her early morning shop after spotting it in store. As she unpacked the delicious-looking chocolate she explained that it cost her £15 which she thought was a lot but admitted it was still a good price 'if you're looking for a special one then this may be the option for you'. As she showed the croissant off to the camera she admitted it 'smelled really really good' and that she'd almost been tempted to tuck in if it weren't so early in the morning.

The supermarket described their viral egg as made of 'hollow white chocolate with caramelised sugar, with feuilletine wafer and caramel pieces, decorated with milk chocolate and milk chocolate vermicelli. Waitrose's exciting new offering comes as customers were overjoyed after Terry's, who normally dominate Christmas with their chocolate orange, released an Easter egg. The British brand released a brand new chocolate orange cream filled egg.

The 34g solid egg is filled with a vibrant orange cream, similar to its well-known competitor the Cadbury's Creme Egg, which has dominated the market since the 60s under its old name, Fry's. One fan added the chocolate croissant-shaped egg to her shopping basket after spotting on the shelves during an early morning shop. Fans all agreed they thought the blonde chocolate was indulgent and creamy but were disappointed it was hollow.
