A female prison officer has been arrested after allegedly being caught on camera having sex with an inmate. Footage taken last week at the Category C Five Wells jail in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, reportedly shows the officer performing a sex act on the prisoner.

The pair then have sex, with the tattooed inmate filming the encounter. A spokesperson for the jail said: ‘A prison custody officer has been suspended and arrested by Northamptonshire Police on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. ‘It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.’.

Footage shows the blonde officer’s trousers removed while her white shirt and security pass remain on. It has been circulated among convicts in the prison, which houses men who are considered a moderate risk. Concerns have repeatedly been raised about the £235 million jail, with the most independent report saying issues are worsening.

The Independent Monitoring Board said drugs are ‘routinely available’ inside the jail, with at least 25% of the 1,700 prisoners randomly tested for illegal substances found to be positive. A source said the officer has ‘risked everything’ to have sex with the inmate.
They told The Sun: ‘It is shocking, especially after scandals at other prisons. ‘The female warder is being incredibly stupid. She has risked everything and it has been reported to bosses so her career is effectively over. ‘I know they’re called screws but you can’t be sleeping with prisoners in your prison and definitely shouldn’t do it on camera.’.
