The former World's Strongest Man and Game of Thrones actor "went from Thor to Captain Underpants" in the eyes of one shocked follower. And far from raving over his shaving, many of Bjornsson's 4.3million Instagram admirers followers gave his new look the chop.

One responded: "That has aged you 15 years.". Another claimed: "I wish there was a way for me to have not seen this.". A third suggested "This is cursed" and a fourth fan pleaded: "Thor man, you’ve gotta stop this.". Bjornsson - aka Thor or The Mountain - unveiled his dramatic razoring to the world in a somewhat understated manner.

The ex-basketball star, who also tried boxing, shared a grinning head-and-shoulders selfie with just one accompanying word: "Moustache.". That could be a classic distraction technique!. But it's more likely to be a reference to the elimination of not just his head hair but also his famously-bushy beard.

He made light of the heavy weight problem by posting a clip of the mishap alongside the words: "No weights were injured in the making of this video.".
