If there’s one thing we miss most about getting dressed in winter, it’s being able to wear shorter hemlines without freezing. Although a pair of tights can offer a little bit more warmth, there’s still no avoiding the cold when wearing mini skirts and dresses. However, Georgia Toffolo, also known as Toff, has found the perfect sneaky substitute that gives you the same chic look as a pair of sheer tights, whilst still keeping you warm. In an Instagram video, Toff raved about her Calzedonia Sheer Effect Thermal Tights, £24.99, which she called “A thumping revelation.”.

Showing off the different layers of the tights, Toff said: “They’re thermal but still sheer. They have this base layer, and then on top they have this sheer one, and then together it still looks like you’re wearing sheer tights.”.
One fan commented: “The thermal sheer tights!!! C’mon!!” to which Toff replied: “ I know so clever wow,” whilst another wrote: “The tights are fabulous!!”. As Toff mentions, the base of the Calzedonia Sheer Effect Thermal Tights is a thick, thermal pair of tights in a beige colour, with a 30 denier sheer tights layer over the top. This gives the illusion of your natural skin tone underneath, whilst still being super warm and cosy.
There are also several other pairs of thermal tights in different colours and prints on the Calzedonia website. The thermal layer can also be removed so you can wear it with other pairs of tights that you may already own, making them a solid investment. Calzedonia shoppers have also praised them, writing: “These tights are so comfortable and really keep you warm. They also look like normal sheer tights which is great.”.

Marks and Spencer has also launched its own version of the sheer effect tights, with its 140 Denier Thermal Sheer Fleece Tights available for £15. Unlike the layered Calzedonia tights, the M&S ones are just one thick robust layer with a brushed fleece lining that makes them extra cosy and warm and have a less sheer effect.
