The largest immersive film organiser in the UK, Secret Cinema, has now revealed that Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical will be coming to Battersea Park this year. Secret Cinema will transport ticket buyers to the world of Rydell High School in 1957 for two and a half hours, with a cast of 30 actors and enormous multi-screen platforms, at the Evolution London events area in the park from August 1 to September 7.
Merritt Baer, Secret Cinema producer and TodayTix Group president and co-founder, said in a statement: “I am thrilled that Secret Cinema is returning home to London for the first time since 2022, and what could be more electrifying than spending those summer nights with Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical.
“The move to Evolution London in Battersea Park marks both Secret Cinema’s most central location yet and the start of a three-year partnership that will see our world-class creative team present an iconic production each summer.”. The production, which is directed by actor and Olivier Award-winning creative director Matthew Costain, is expected to be a unique and engaging experience.
Here’s everything you need to know. You can register via the website to get early access tickets, alternatively, pre-sale tickets will also be available to O2 priority users. This is the first of three summer events held at Secret Cinema’s Evolution London location. Productions for 2026 and 2027 have not yet been revealed.
Tickets are expected to be priced around £49 with some tickets expected to be as high as £79. Secret Cinema started as a modest, private get-together of friends in 2007 and has since grown into a series of wildly successful participatory outdoor film screenings and theatrical events.
Known for its immersive performances since 2008, Secret Cinema has previously brought classic films like Dirty Dancing and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back to life. A turning point for Secret Cinema came in 2014, when London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was renovated to recreate Back to the Future's Hill Valley, and it left reviewers raving about it even when mishaps took place.
Each year, the event got bigger. In 2015, rebels embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime journey and witnessed nearly the whole Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back movie in action. The event also included a secret nightclub and a Berber-style souq, as well as a massive X-wing Starfighter who was there to destroy the Death Star.
