Rock duo Nova Twins have debuted songs from their forthcoming album at a Brits Week gig in aid of the War Child charity. A sell-out crowd squeezed into the 320-capacity Omeara venue in London, to hear the high-energy pair tear through fan favourites from their two previous albums, such as Cleopatra, K.M.B. and Sleep Paralysis, and to showcase new material.
Guitarist and lead singer Amy Love and bass player Georgia South are used to playing much larger venues, having headlined at Electric Brixton in 2022, but went back to their beginnings at the small venue. Love announced “hello London” as she bounced on to the stage, telling the enthusiastic crowd: “We’ve missed you guys.”.
The audience responded by pogoing, moshing and even twerking as the band opened up their own take on the mosh pit, the “twerk pit”. Later, Love told the audience “this is an exclusive, a first” as the duo played new song Soprano, and went on to say she was “super excited to release new music” before playing another new song, Monster.
The band, known for merging hard rock with rap, also played an “old school hip hop” influenced new track, which saw the crowd join in with its N-O-V-A chorus. Midway through the set, Love stopped to thank the audience for donating to War Child, which supports children involved in conflict, saying: “I think we’ve already raised over £30,000 tonight.”.
She continued: “There’s children all around the world that need it, it’s 2025 and we’re still having this conversation, but nonetheless, you’re all making a difference, in a small way or some others in bigger ways. “Right now counts, you know?”.
Before finishing with Choose Your Fighter, Love thanked the fans for “coming on this journey with us”, describing the gig as “so special” and saying they were “keeping venues alive”. As the closing number reached its climax, the pair leapt off the stage and into the mosh pit while continuing to play, with South allowing members of the crowd to play her bass.
