LUKE LITTLER burst onto the scene a little more than a year ago but to one man it was no surprise. The chief executive of rugby league side Warrington Wolves Karl Fitzpatrick is a huge Littler fan. The club are set to change to name of their ground to the Luke Littler Stadium for one night only.

Fitzpatrick is delighted to be able to honour the world darts champion, who he tipped for the big time when he was still an unknown prodigy. He said: "I emailed Barry Hearn in early 2023 saying, ‘There’s a kid here who’s going to be special.’. "He replied, ‘I’m aware of him.’ This was before he exploded.".

That was Littler's final year before he turned pro, with many quickly learning of his skills in December 2023 thanks to his stunning run at Ally Pally. Littler, 18, got through the first few rounds of the World Darts Championship and would go on to reach the final, where he lost to Luke Humphries.

In his first year on the Pro Tour the darts sensation won the Premier League and two majors, including the Grand Slam and the World Series Finals. Littler is also a big Warrington Wolves fan and he will lead the side out against Catalan Dragons before being give full access around the ground.
