If you’re planning a holiday to Cornwall with your little ones, and like the idea of the kids being catered for but luxury not being compromised, head to Fowey Hall Hotel. The idyllic 19th-century country house, with magnificent views of the estuary, has everything you need for a relaxing family break: heated indoor and outdoor pools, a cinema room, a family library, a play park and a sumptuous spa. There’s also an Ofsted-registered kids’ club, with the hotel offering a complimentary two-hour session per night’s stay.

The stylish hotel restaurant has two dining spaces – a family dining room and a candlelit, 'grown-up' space that’s more suited to couples. If you are dining with children, there are a few nice touches to keep them entertained, including pots of colouring pencils and drawing pads, a wide selection of games, help-yourself crudités and hummus, and a delicious children’s menu. In the town of Fowey itself, we recommend North Street Kitchen, a rustic open-plan restaurant that offers seasonal produce and amazing local seafood.

Fowey Hall Hotel in Cornwall has magnificent views of the estuary and everything you need for a relaxing family break. There are so many great places to explore in the area, even if it was nigh on impossible to tear our four-year-old away from the hotel. The Eden Project is a 15-minute drive from Fowey and caters for curious minds of all ages with its mind-blowing Rainforest Biome, home to one of the world’s largest indoor rainforests. There’s also the Mediterranean Biome, Nature’s Playground and England’s fastest zip wire for any thrill-seekers in the family.

We also spent a day at the enchanting Lost Gardens of Heligan and were not only dazzled by the walled gardens and The Jungle area (don’t miss the Burmese Rope Bridge), but were impressed by the huge children’s playground – the largest in Cornwall. There are, of course, dozens of spectacular beaches to visit during your stay, including the breathtaking Porthpean Beach and also Readymoney Cove, an ideal spot for crabbing.
