Snoop Dogg has lost more than 500,000 followers on social media after facing backlash for performing at an event celebrating Donald Trump’s inauguration. Last week the 53-year-old rapper and actor – real name Calvin Broadus Jr. – took to the stage at the inaugural ‘Crypto Ball’ which was hosted by Paypal’s former chief operating officer David Sacks.
The businessman has been hired by the new President as an ‘AI and Crypto Czar’ to advise the government. The rappers Soulja Boy and Rick Ross also performed at the event, but Snoop was slammed after his past criticisms of Trump. Now, a few days on, it’s been revealed many were so incensed by his participation that they unfollowed him on social media in their hundreds of thousands.
Snoop has now lost 571,800 followers on Instagram and 17,177 on X. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video. Up Next. Although Trump didn’t attend the Crypto Ball, which wasn’t part of the official weekend program, it was a celebration of his victory in last year’s election. After footage of Snoop started circulating, many said they were ‘shocked’ to see him there, while others went so far as to call him a ‘sell out’.
