Many couples find it tough to settle on a baby name they both adore, and one mum has shared her own naming battle online. Her husband believes her preferred name for their daughter 'sounds like a video game character', leading the frustrated mum to vent on Reddit in a post headlined, 'The fight for baby girl's name rages on...'.
She posted: "I'm having a baby girl! Yay! But the fight for her name is never ending." Detailing the dilemma, she said: "We have a son, whom my husband named Dominic Santiago and honestly...I've never been a fan. Even now 6 years later I still find myself wishing I got to name him... so now with baby girl I'm fighting hard for a name that I actually like!.
"My number one name is Ayla. Middle name is undecided but I love Ayla. My husband says it sounds 'fantasy, like a video game or book character name'. I told him I personally know another Ayla and she's great but he says it sounds fake and he can't picture an adult with that name.".
The mum continued: "Am I being hard headed? Does Ayla sound fake? Does it even go well with our son's name? 'These are my kids, Dominic and Ayla...', ugh I'm really second guessing myself. My husband is into names I really don't like, think Sarah, Peyton, Ashley, Rebecca... so I don't know how much stake I'm putting in his opinion lol.".
