AN iconic snack bar has called it quits after more than six decades leaving locals distraught. Andy's Snack Bar has been a permanent and beloved fixture of Southport since the 1960s. But now, the joint has announced that it will be closing down for good in the next two months.

The eatery on Garrick Parade opened in 1961 delighting locals with homemade pies, cakes, and other food including all-day breakfast. On January 21, the snack bar took to Facebook telling patrons: "Breaking news... Andy's Snack Bar will close its doors for the final time within two months.

"Date to be confirmed.". A follow up post saw the managers beg loyal customers to "make the most of the time we are still here.". "We are looking forward to welcoming our regulars and all customers for the next couple of months," they said. "Stock your freezer with pies and don't forget to order to avoid disappointment.".

The snack bar has had to reiterate this point due to "high demand" with "people coming early" to get as much as they can while the food bar is open. Andy's will close its doors for the last time on Saturday, March 15, the business confirmed. No reason for the closure has yet been issued by the snack bar and locals are already mourning the loss.
