MAKE this the year that you learn something new. Whether you want to develop your digital skills or swot up on something completely different, there’s a free course that can help. You can get an introduction to almost any subject from psychology to social media. Find a list of them at open.edu/openlearn/free-courses. You can also access Martin Lewis’s Money Saving Expert Academy Of Money via the site. POETIC LICENCE: If Burns Night yesterday left you inspired, you can enrol on a free course about the life and poetry of Robert Burns at futurelearn.com.

There are loads of other free courses, too, including languages and swotting up on IT skills. BRUSH UP ON BASICS: To get started in business or boost your skills to go back to work, search for The Skills Toolkit at nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/find-a-course/ the-skills-toolkit.
