Research shows that the average household has over fifty unwanted items lying around, worth an estimated £10 billion pounds across the UK. To contain all those things, people are spending thousands of pounds on storage facilities, garages and even bigger houses to accommodate it. Now an ITV Tonight programme investigation - Keep, Chuck or Cash in - The Big Clear Out - has identified 10 phones, tablets and computer games that, if sold in working order, could make owners between £2,165 and £2,900. Many of us who upgrade our phones often hold on to the old ones, relegating them to the back of the shelf or a box somewhere (probably in its original packaging) - but why not cash in on it?.
With 64% of people admitting their homes are due for a declutter, professional organiser Dilly Carter told The Mirror: “Our relationship with our space affects everything. The other part of decluttering is what we responsibly do with our stuff; where it goes to live another life after we are finished with it. It’s not just about the organisation, we have a huge responsibility to think more about what we consume but also what we do with it after we buy it. How we dispose of things responsibly and live with less.”.
