As the nation's richest comedian with countless stand-up gigs under his belt, Peter Kay should be used to dealing with hecklers. The 51-year-old star is back on tour and on Saturday night at Manchester's AO Arena, he asked security to remove several spectators from the show. Some onlookers insisted the Car Share star, who has an estimated £34.6 million fortune, had no choice but to stop the gig being ruined for the other spectators, but others insisted he was far too heavy handed.

Now Peter himself has chipped in, telling GMB of his show at the 23,000 capacity arena: "There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn't enough. It's not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it's no longer fair to everyone around.". Here, we take a look back at how the drama unfolded... Two of the ejected hecklers on Saturday night were warehouse worker Philip Peters, 54, and his son, 26. He is said to have shouted out Kay's famous catchphrase "garlic bread" in the first half, leading to a funny moment on-camera with Peter but by the second half, the comedian had seemingly had enough.

According to fans who were there, when Philip continued to yell out the catchphrase the star ordered the lights to be turned on and ejected the duo. Philip later told Mail Online he felt he had been treated like a "terrorist", saying: "I just can't understand it, all I said was garlic bread. That's my favourite joke of his. I have loved Peter Kay forever. I watched him on Car Share, I watch him on TikTok all the time and I''ve always wanted to see him live.".

But another fan at the gig, Jo Llewellyn, told Mail Online Philip had "absolutely deserved" to be removed. "He was extremely drunk even before the show started and continued to make a nuisance of himself as the show went on," she said. "For those of us who sat beside him he ruined the gig.". And one fan told Mail Online: "We all clapped when he got rid of them and Peter in his own manner dealt with it very well.".

Myar Curran, 25, was next to be ejected from the show for shouting out: "We love you Peter". One witness told the Manchester Evening News: "Peter Kay said: 'Yeah get her out too, I'm enjoying this, who wants her out too?'" The comedian then joked "Go on, off you go Lisa Riley" as Myar was removed from inside the venue. The mum-of-one, who had travelled down from Scotland for the gig, told the MEN: "I do feel he was on about my weight. I know Lisa Riley has lost a lot of weight and looks great but she used to be a bit bigger. I did have a cry about it after I got to the hotel room. I was just so upset.".
