There was a dramatic twist in the first EastEnders episode of Christmas Day, as time ran out for Cindy Beale. The character, played by actress Michelle Collins, was caught out as her affair with Junior Knight came out. The moment had been teased in spoilers and an epic trailer prior to the episode. But fans were in for a shock when the second part of the Christmas special ended with Cindy left for dead!.
This week saw Elaine Peacock uncover the betrayal, and soon she had a demand for her love rival. She told Cindy to leave Walford for good, otherwise she would expose Cindy's affair to everyone including Cindy's ex George, Junior's father. But with Lauren Branning also finding out the truth, the scene was set for a tense reveal. And that it was, as the first episode of the night ended with the entire pub hearing Cindy's confession.
Cindy had told ex David Wicks ago about her cheating on Ian Beale with Junior. In the confession she spilled on how Ian didn't meet her needs, and how Junior was a bit of fun as it was George she loved. The confession was recorded by Freddie Slater by accident who had left his equipment running, amid him and Cindy's daughter Anna Knight recording bird calls. The audio was played out on a laptop and made its way onto a USB, which became the perfect Secret Santa gift for an unsuspecting resident.
