Former Love Island star Jack Fincham has spoken about hitting rock bottom with his addiction to drugs, alcohol and gambling, revealing that he was detained by police after going into a drug withdrawal "psychosis". The reality star, 33, recently found himself in legal trouble, having been sentenced to six weeks behind bars after his Cane Corso bit two people, causing injury to one person. However, Jack has now revealed that he was taken into police custody after stealing a neighbour's tricycle during a psychotic episode.
Speaking to The Sun, Jack admitted that he gave up anti-anxiety drug Xanax after going into rehab, but relapsed after a packet he had previously hidden fell out of a cupboard. He began taking the drug again and ordered more online. "My face changed, I was grey, my brain was half asleep and half awake," he said. "I wasn't in control. I'd find a pub at 10am and convince them to let me in.". Jack's partner Chloe Brockett found the pills and threw them away, telling him that she would split with him if he ordered anymore. Jack desperately tried to find more, revealing that they're "more addictive than heroin". He then suffered withdrawal seizures, causing his body to jolt and insomnia that "went on for days".
He added: "I ended up in psychosis because I hadn’t slept. My body felt possessed. One night I woke up, went outside into someone’s driveway and took a kid’s trike. I ended up in psychosis because I hadn’t slept. My body felt possessed. One night I woke up, went outside into someone’s driveway and took a kid’s trike.". Jack went onto lock himself away for two days, watching Alan Partridge and The Office "over and over", comforted that he finally "knew the words".
During the chat, Jack broke down while speaking about his battle with addiction and admitted that it caused his split from Love Island star Dani Dyer in 2019. The pair won the ITV2 show in 2018, but broke up the following year. Jack revealed that drugs "helped" with relationship with Dani "fail", explaining: "I was absent, my priorities were wrong, I wasn't a great boyfriend. I am determined to change my future.".
The reality star is now dating TOWIE's Chloe Brockett, 24, who was forced to call an ambulance last summer after fearing that Jack would attempt to end his life. *Frank offers confidential advice about drugs and addiction (email frank@talktofrank.com, message 82111 or call 0300 123 6600) or the NHS has information about getting help.
