Kym Marsh has split from her younger boyfriend Samuel Thomas, who she called her "soulmate" after just six months. The former Coronation Street actress, 48, and her partner Sam, 29, had decided to separate during the festive period after touring together. They fell "head over heels" for one another when they first met, but work made it difficult to spend time together. Kym had been starring as Cruella De Vil in the musical tour of 101 Dalmatians, which is where she met Samuel, who starred as Tom Dearly. The show ran from June last year until January, and the pair were said to have found it tough to keep the spark going after she left the musical last year.
A source told The Sun: "Once Kym’s role in 101 Dalmatians ended it became harder to spend time together and some of the magic they had at the beginning just disappeared. It’s such a shame, especially before Christmas but Kym surrounded herself with family.". The couple were very open with their affection for one another, often sharing gushing tributes, with Kym saying she had met the "most amazing ever" back in August. Their romance blossomed not long after the breakdown of her third marriage to Army Major Scott Ratcliff.
In November, Sam reflected on the "bittersweet day" they would part ways after the tour came to an end. Sharing a photo of the couple in an embrace, Samuel wrote: "A very bittersweet day. I don’t know where all this time has gone. It seems like 5 minutes ago we were starting rehearsals, taking trips to Morrison’s and sending funny GIFs back and forth on Instagram (me desperately trying to make you laugh).
"You’re an incredible human being. So talented, so beautiful, kind and caring, funny and warm. Working with you has been one of the best experiences. Kym and Samuel made the relationship Instagram official In July as they "couldn't contain their excitement". Their romance came around a year after the breakdown of her third marriage. A source close to Kym told The Mirror at the time: "Kym is so happy with Sam and they couldn't contain their excitement so it felt natural to put pics on social media and tell the world about the relationship. But the reaction from some people has been harsh and shocking to them.
"Kym has been saying it is stressful and she doesn't want to put any pressure on their romance which is still in the relatively early stages of the first few months. It has been a hard week because she is not working on the musical this week and is away filming Waterloo Road so they have been apart which has made things harder.". Kym even got a huge new tattoo, paying tribute to the musical they both starred in. Revealing a portrait of Cruella De Vil on her ribs, the actress gushed: "Thank you @jesswright_tattoo for my awesome Cruella tattoo. Needed something to cover up an old one and this is just perfect! A great reminder of playing this Iconic villain! Although….. if you’re gonna have a tattoo gang….. ribs are SORE!!! Sorry Jess for the occasional swear word hahah. You’re an absolute genius!".
The couple faced criticism over their age difference and Kym faced trolls claiming she was 'jumping into another romance'. Hitting back at their critics, Sam wrote note on his Story as he shared: "Opinions are like a**eholes... everyone's got one, but they're still a**eholes."
