The veteran anchor has been behind the anchor’s desk of the network’s flagship nightly news broadcast since 2015. NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt announced to network staff on Monday that he was stepping down from the show he’s hosted since 2015.

The 65-year-old journalist will remain with the network in a full-time capacity and retain his principal hosting role on Dateline, which he has helmed for the past 15 years.
