Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed she was sent a devastating message three days after his tragic death. The One Direction singer died at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His girlfriend Kate has spoken out for the first time since his death and started to cry as she revealed the moment she realised Liam was not coming back. Kate had been sorting Halloween decorations at home and paid a man to fix their lights while Liam remained in Argentina. He messaged her three days after Liam’s death asking if he had liked his Halloween surprise. But it was then that it hit her that Liam was not coming back. She burst into tears as she admitted she never thought something could happen to Liam and revealed they lived their "own separate lives".
In her interview, Kate spoke about Liam in the present tense before trying to correct herself. She also heartbreakingly admitted to the Sun that she still calls Liam's phone to hear his voicemail. Following his death, Kate would fall asleep listening to his songs, but now she can no longer play any of them. She confessed: "Maybe one day, but not right now.". Paying tribute to her late boyfriend in a heartfelt social media post, Kate revealed they had been hoping to take their relationship to the next level. She said: "A few weeks ago we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said: 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way that we planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me wherever I go. Forever yours, Katelyn, 444.".
Kate explained "444" is the number of angels. On her Instagram she said: "More often, you will see the number 444 when you are feeling down. In simple sense, the number 444 reminds you that your angels are always there to support you. When you see this number you will be reassured that you are protected and loved by the angels.". Kate travelled to England to attend Liam's funeral service at St Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, with the support of her friend Damian Hurley. She remained in the country following the funeral and appeared tearful while in London. Kate had decided to fly back to the couple’s home in Miami on October 14, just days before Liam's death as he had stayed behind to renew his US visa.
She said on social media it was starting to feel a bit too long to hang out in the country. In a video she posted a TikTok before Liam died, Kate said: "I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, 'I need to go home.'". Like this story?
