The Love Island All Stars will have to ditch their bikinis and stay indoors as the villa is hit by a heatwave. The weather forecast predicts a UV level of 13, just one point below Cape Town's highest ever recorded level. This means that the reality stars will have to take extreme precautions to protect themselves from the blistering South African sun.
Producers will advise them to seek shade in the garden and spend time inside the villa between 11am and 3pm. They will also be encouraged to cover up their skin. Official advice for UV levels above 11 - categorised as "Extreme" - warns: "Take full precaution. Unprotected skin will be damaged and can burn in minutes. Avoid the sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., cover up, and wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Don't forget that white sand and other bright surfaces reflect UV and increase UV exposure.".
The Love Island All Stars' villa is a sun trap, surrounded by reflective white walls. A show insider revealed: "Crew and Islanders are prepped for all weather eventualities. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are all available and regularly seen on screen and there are areas in the shade for them to take cover, as well as of course inside the villa. Plus they can cover up and make use of the eBay wardrobe.".
