Love Island fans may have been convinced that Sammy Root and Elma Pazar were dating before they entered the villa, but he has confirmed that wasn’t the case. Following Monday night’s final, where he and Elma came in fifth place, Sammy, 23, addressed the rumours that the couple had been secretly dating before the show began. “Don’t get me wrong, I definitely tried my best but she kept batting me away,” he said. “Me and Elma have never even kissed until the terrace.”.

When asked if that kiss was worth the wait, he said: “Every bit!” while Elma, 32, added: “100 per cent. I wanted it from the minute he walked in.” Sammy also said that he was thrilled they were leaving the villa as an exclusive couple. “It’s just nice to know where you’re at with each other. To have the nice - cringey - exclusive word means we know where we’re at.”. Fans of Love Island had suspected the pair were a couple before they appeared on All Stars after doing some online detective work and spotting that eight weeks ago Elma had commented on a post of Sammy’s and added some heart hand emojis. He had replied with an emoji of a couple holding hands.

Now they have left the South African villa, the pair are planning a first date with Sammy suggesting “a movie night, some pasta and chill” as they both love watching films. While Elma said “we’re just going to take it slow” when it comes to becoming a couple in the real world, Sammy said they would be boyfriend and girlfriend “hopefully some time in the future but we’re just enjoying things as they are.”.

Elma also said she liked everything about Sammy and added “I think he’s perfect,” while Sammy said “I’ve never had someone that I’m so attracted to, but also have that fun, best friend feeling with. It’s something I’ve always wanted and I definitely get that with Elma.”. Gabby Allen and Casey O’Gorman were crowned the winners of this year’s All Stars on Monday 17 February, Grace and Luca were runner-ups. Big Brother star Ekin-Su and Curtis came in third place while Catherine and Omar came in fourth.

Earlier in the episode, after being announced as the fifth place couple, Elma joked that they got to the final "by the skin of our teeth" before they discussed their connection with the host. In fourth place came Catherine and Omar, who got together after the PE teacher came in as a bombshell. "I prayed and, you know what, he came through," Catherine said when asked about him coming in. "Good things come to those who wait.".

Ekin-Su and Curtis came in third place in the final, much to the shock of fans. "I'm really happy, I found my man," the Turkish soap star said about being third place while Curtis added that his new girlfriend is “amazing”.
