Manchester City are close to signing Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso, according to reports in Italy. The 24-year-old came through Genoa’s academy before he joined Juve in a €8.5 million (£7.2m) deal in 2022. After spending a season on loan at Bologna, Cambiaso quickly established himself as a regular last season.

But he is now on the verge of joining City, with Sky Sports Italy reporting that an agreement over a deal worth up to €65m (£54.7m) is close to being reached with Juve. The report adds that City are ready to offer Cambiaso a five-year contract, which will include the option of a sixth year.
Juve are said to be holding out for an €80m (£67.3m) fee but Sky Sports Italy report that there is a ‘good chance’ that a compromise will be reached with City. Cambiaso has started just one of Juve’s last nine matches and Thiago Motta revealed last weekend that the defender has been suffering from inflammation issues.
‘At this moment, I also have to thank Cambiaso because he is dealing with an inflammation but he’s still able to play and train,’ Motta said. ‘He did really well after coming in. So we hope he gets back in shape as soon as possible, as he will certainly be another player who can help the team raise the level.’.
Cambiaso has made 13 appearances for Italy’s national side and played in three games at Euro 2024 last summer. The defender signed a contract extension with Juve last May which keeps him tied to the Italian club until 2029. For more stories like this, check our sport page.
