Boston Common and Los Angeles Golf Club held a one-minute silence ahead of their TGL match-up on Monday following the passing of Tiger Woods' mother, Kultida. The death of Kultida was announced by Woods in a statement on Monday, as the 82-time PGA Tour winner wrote on social media: "It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning. "My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.

"She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom." Woods' simulator league TGL paid their respects on the back of the news. Prior to the clash between the Boston and Los Angeles teams on Monday night, both teams observed a period of silence in honour of Kultida and the Woods family. Just one week prior, Kultida was in attendance at the SoFi Center, after Woods' Jupiter Links took on Boston Common.

The 15-time major champion has hailed the impact of his mum throughout his career, and her passing was recognised by PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan in the wake of Woods' announcement. "The PGA Tour family is saddened by the passing of Kultida Woods. For all the latest on news, politics, sports, and showbiz from the USA, go to The Mirror US. "Those of us who have been lucky enough to have a firsthand view of Tiger Woods’ career know how much both his greatness and his humanity have stemmed from the love and support of his mother. We will cherish our memories of her and our thoughts are with Tiger, his children Sam and Charlie, and their entire family as they mourn her loss.”.

Following the action on Monday evening, Woods' TGL business partner Rory McIlroy spoke of Kultida's passing, paying tribute to the family. Yeah, obviously very sad, sort of surreal. She was here last Monday night. Yeah, it seemed sudden," the Northern Irishman said post-match. "I got to know Tita a little bit. She was always very warm, very courteous and generous with her time. Yeah, it was always a delight to see her at tournaments. As time went on, you sort of saw her less and less, and you'd bump into her in player dining and it was always nice to see her. She always had a big smile. Yeah, you obviously feel for Tiger and Sam and Charlie and wish them all the best. Yeah, it's a sad day.".
