You don’t need a reason to strip off and have some mind-blowing sex, but if you want to feel even more satisfied at the finish line, you can get off on knowing you just reduced your risk of heart disease. That’s right, it turns out that men who have sex more frequently are less likely to suffer from heart complications.

But how frequently do you need to get it on in order for those orgasms to work their magic?. According to scientists, you’ll need to do the deed a whopping 103 times a year to see the greatest ‘protective effect’ for heart health. This is the equivalent of about two times a week, every week.

But if this is way above your normal average, don’t worry, because the study – published in the Journal of Scientific Reports in December last year – found that significant benefits could be gained by doing the deed 52 times a year too. Essentially, the golden margins for preventing heart disease is shagging at least once a week.

It seems bizarre that making love could help your heart but Dr Lawrence Cunningham for Help & Advice tells Metro: ‘Sex is a form of exercise that can increase heart rate and improve circulation, similar to moderate-intensity workouts. ‘It can also help reduce stress levels, which is crucial for heart health, as chronic stress is a known risk factor for heart disease.
