A man missing in Tenerife has been found to the joy of his family, who had flown over to the Spanish island to search for him. Liam Hannigan, 34, was on holiday on the island and staying with friends he met on the trip after first flying out with his partner on December 29. However, he has not been in touch with family or friends since February 7, sparking concerns at home in Clifton, Greater Manchester.
An appeal was launched with his information shared by the Missing Person's Tenerife page on social media. However, earlier this evening his sister Ellie confirmed he has been found. She wrote in a Facebook post: "My Mum and Dad have successfully found Liam while searching for him in Tenerife this evening. He is now on his way back to safety with them, where he will receive the necessary care he needs.
"Although Liam has been found, he still requires medical help before we can bring him back to Manchester. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us during this incredibly difficult time. "The past few weeks have been a nightmare for our family, but knowing Liam is safe and with Mum and Dad is a huge relief. Thank you all for your support and love.". Earlier today Ellie revealed Liam's mental before he vanished was "not the best" and the family was "very worried about his well-being". The family had flown out this morning to search for their beloved son, and seemingly were able to quickly track him down.
Ellie said earlier: "To address the rumours circulating on social media, we want to make it clear Liam is not out drinking or involved in any illegal activities. This isn’t about a “bender” or him wandering off drunk. He is unwell, and what he needs right now is medical attention and the care that will help him get back to health. "As a family, we are doing everything we can to support Liam, and we ask for understanding and compassion. Mental health struggles are real, and it’s crucial that we give people the help they need—especially when they are going through something like this.
