Mohamed Salah is learning Spanish, but he insists that doesn't mean he's moving to a La Liga club. The Liverpool superstar has less than six months remaining on his Anfield contract and looks set to leave at the end of the season. Negotiations are still open, but little progress has been made so far, and while Salah recently claimed that this will be his "last year" on Merseyside, he didn't rule out extending his Liverpool contract.
A lucrative move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted, though clubs all over Europe will presumably be tempted to try and snap him up if indeed he becomes a free agent in the summer. Speaking to TNT Sports Mexico, however, Salah played down talk of a move to Spain, but did admit that he's learning how to speak the language.
"I'm just learning the language a little, and I can say things like, 'How are you?' But that doesn't mean I'm considering living in Spain," Salah, 32, said. Additionally, in a candid talk with Sky Sports, Salah expressed frustrations about contract negotiations with Liverpool. "It's the last six months [of my time at Liverpool]. There is no progress there," he said. "We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.".
Despite the off-pitch uncertainties, Salah's stats have been mind-blowing this season; he's bagged 20 goals and provided 17 assists across all competitions. He's been central to Liverpool's success since his arrival in 2017, and it's the same story now.
