A mom has shared the terrifying moment she found out her five-year-old son had leukemia after thinking he had been bitten by a bug. Ollie, now eight, had been on a camping trip three years ago with his family when his health suddenly declined. His parents - Anna and Andrew - initially thought he may have been bitten by a bug on their trip, with the young boy developing a fever after getting an infected toe the week prior to the trip.

According to The Starlight Foundation, Ollie, who lives in Sydney, Australia, suffered from 'consistent high temperatures, nose bleeds, bruising and extreme fatigue,' for 10 days after his toe got infected, but appeared to be on the mend when the family went camping.

However, on the trip, Anna noticed her son still wasn't well - saying she had a 'gut feeling' something was very wrong. 'I looked over at Ollie and noticed he was extremely pale, and his lips were the same color as his face,' his mom Anna, explained to the Starlight Foundation.

'I then noticed little red spots on his legs and face. We thought maybe he'd been bitten by something in the bush, but my gut told me otherwise,' she recalled. The family headed home the next morning to take Ollie to the doctor and he was immediately sent to the Children's Hospital.

Ollie, now eight, had been on a camping trip three years ago with his family when his health suddenly declined. 'I remember the GP telling me she was sending Ollie to Emergency Department for precautionary testing to rule out "one thing,"' Anna admitted.
