You may consider yourself a domestic god or goddess, but you haven't seen anything yet. A meticulous mum-of-two has left others in awe with her comprehensive weekly cleaning schedule. From maintaining a spotless home throughout the week to meal prepping, her impressively detailed plan involves waking up at 5am daily. Other parents were astounded at how the mum and her husband juggle full-time jobs while also running a house renovation business on the side. The Melbourne-based mum, who has two daughters aged five and three, shared her routine on Facebook, leaving people gobsmacked.
Her first piece of advice is: "Be quick, don't dawdle and avoid distractions. Wake up early, get ready before the kids. Aim for 5am for you, 5.30 for the kids have them fed and dressed by 7am.". MONDAY. Each day begins with the mum emptying the dishwasher and making the beds - every single day. She does the laundry, prepares that night's dinner and ensures there's enough for lunch the next day. "While food is being cooked - vacuum, dust and mop. Get PJs/home clothes/work clothes/ fancy clothes hanged on the clothes rail for the next day. Empty garbage and recycle bins, do paperwork and other things like gift preparation for whoever we are visiting." She then showers and gets ready for Tuesday.
TUESDAY. The mum starts by preparing the evening meal in advance. She then deep cleans and dusts her home, noting 'DustW' on her chore list as a weekly reminder. She says she disassembles her rangehood - or kitchen hood - and places it in the dishwasher, while also giving it a good scrub herself - along with the oven and stove. She stated: "Using an old sponge and old toothbrush and Jif, clean the range hood, stove, oven and all sinks, toilets, bathtubs and showers. I drain my washing machine filters. Then I clean the machine by running it on the hottest cycle with washing powder.".
She hangs up all clothing, including pyjamas, ready for the next day. She also jots down codes for her Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routines to remind her of what needs to be done and when. WEDNESDAY. 'LinenW' or Linen Weekly marks the middle of the week, which includes changing all bed linens and towels. Once this is completed, and while dinner is cooking, she prepares clothes for Thursday and takes out the rubbish and recycling.
She then catches up on paperwork and looks at 'gift preparation' in case any family members might be planning a visit. She said: "When cooking is done, pack lunches for the next day. I fold the laundry, replace the linen and bedsheets and take a shower.". THURSDAY. Thursday's routine in this household is all about dusting, hoovering, and tackling the entire family's laundry, with chores coded as 'LaundryW' (laundry weekly), 'VacuumW' (vacuum weekly), and 'DustE' (dust everything). The mum shares her multitasking tips: "While the food is cooking, vacuum everything; so the house, plus under beds and sofas.".
She continues, "I dust the window sills, wall paintings and tops of cabinets and mop." Then she turns to more administrative tasks, takes out the bins again, and gets the clothes ready. FRIDAY. Ironing takes centre stage, with Friday being dedicated to ironing - IronW (ironing weekly). Her method is simple: "While the food is cooking, IronW. I iron school clothes, work shirts etc.". Once dinner is sorted, she packs lunches for the next day, showers, and enjoys catching up with family and friends over the phone.
SATURDAY. There's is a familiar scene across the UK - it's shopping day, tagged P/L S W (plan, list and shop weekly). She's keen to draft a meal plan and an intricate shopping list, utilising culinary themes to streamline her meals - even breakfast becomes a breeze. One week might focus on South Asian cuisine, another on Middle Eastern, followed by a European twist. Here's how she breaks it down: "So my plan consists of Monday (veg), Tuesday (chicken), Wednesday (lentils, beans), Thursday (lamb), Friday (fish), Saturday (pilaf, pasta, roast chicken, steak).".
Her shopping trip includes stops at Aldi, Coles and Safeway, with a detour to a local greengrocer for fresh veggies. Curiously practical, she adds: "I also check the Council website for free activities and update my fridge calendar with events from the website and my phone appointments for the next week. I then do our shopping and vacuum/wash our cars.". SUNDAY. On Sundays, she shared: "Make beds, empty dishwasher. While food is cooking, mow the lawn. Get PJs/home clothes/work clothes/fancy clothes hanged on the clothes rail for next day, empty garbage and recycle bins, do paperwork and other things like gift preparation for whoever we are visiting.".
