A woman was chastised by her sister on holiday after venturing out to buy an innocent sweet treat. Family holidays can be lovely, joyful deviations from the everyday routine but they can also stir up some frustration and the odd argument. One woman and her partner are currently away for a two-week getaway at her family’s holiday home. Her parents are also in attendance, as well as her siblings and their children.
The woman described the holiday as having been “fun for the most part” but said it “gets pretty suffocating being around so many kids all the time”. Recently, her siblings “decided to do their own thing with their family” so she and her partner went to a winery for the day and, when they got back, they visited a local shop where they bought ice cream.
This is where things took a turn. On Reddit, the woman explained: “When we were leaving the ice cream shop, my sister and her kids were coming back from the beach. “Well, one of my nephews then wanted ice cream and proceeded to have a meltdown. Instead of calming him down, my sister blamed us [and said], ‘Now look what I have to deal with, [what] did you get ice cream for??’.
“Then later on, she’s complaining to my mum that we went and did our own thing, when it was a family holiday and we should only do things with family - even though they were doing their own thing anyway).”. The woman said for the entirety of the holiday so far, she and her partner have done “every planned activity”, which have mostly revolved around the children. They’ve also watched countless films with her nieces and nephews, and they’ve played cards and board games “sometimes for hours”.
