Neighbours star lands huge role in American drama series

Neighbours fans will have likely recognised a familiar face if they tuned into the first episode of the new series of The White Lotus. Morgana O’Reilly, who played Naomi Canning in the Aussie soap, had a big role to play as the hit HBO show returned for its third season on Monday. The actress appears as hotel staffer Pam in the hit US murder mystery drama, and was seen checking in ominous new guests the Ratliff family as they arrived at the luxury hotel.

After previous seasons in Hawaii and Sicily, the action has relocated to Thailand for The White Lotus’ third outing. It all kicked off with a gunman going on a shooting spree around the resort, before viewers were taken back a week in time to see the events leading up to the horrific event.

Among the cast of new guests are Sex Education’s Aimee Lou Wood, film star Jason Isaacs and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Patrick. Morgana’s role is billed as recurring, so fans can be assured she will be popping up throughout the series, which is dropping new episodes each Monday in the UK on streaming service NOW. New Zealand-born Morgana rose to international prominence playing Ramsay Street’s Naomi Canning, originally appearing between 2014 and 2015, before reprising the role for guest stint in 2020.

She also made a cameo appearance in a video message in what was then thought to be the soap’s final-ever episode in July 2022, before Amazon revived it the following year. Speaking about landing her White Lotus role, Morgana recently told The Spin Off she didn’t initially believe she’d been cast. ‘I picked up the phone and ran out of the room, preparing for some small talk and to find out that it didn’t go my way,’ she recalled. ‘But then my agent just said “I’ve just talked to casting, and they’re going to offer you the role. It’s yours.”.

‘I really thought it was a scam for a while there.’. She added of her character: ‘[Pam] helps coordinate the wellness program but I reckon, underneath it, she’s barely holding on.’.
