Olly Murs has credited his wife for transforming his life during a period of estrangement from his twin brother. The 40-year-old singer, who has been at odds with his sibling Ben since 2009, was single for three years before crossing paths with his now-wife Amelia Tank. The couple, who tied the knot in April 2023, first connected on Instagram before their relationship blossomed in the gym. Amelia, who is a bodybuilder, has had a significant influence on Olly's life.
The former X-Factor star opened up to The Times about the moment he realised Amelia was "the one". He said: "I always thought that spark when you fall in love was a load of Disney rubbish. People would talk about that moment and you'd go, 'Really?' And when it does happen, it's not like it is in films, of course. When that person walks into your life and changes how you feel, you know. She's gorgeous, the love of my life.".
Reflecting on his strained relationship with his brother Ben, Olly confessed that he grappled with feelings of loneliness following their fallout. He said: "I was desperate to be around people, could not sit in a room alone.", reports the Express. "When I was single for three years, I had to learn to like my own company. That's when I met Amelia.".
Olly's sibling drama started when he dodged Ben's wedding - and his best man duties- to appear on the ITV reality show. Ben was incensed his sibling had 'put fame before him', claiming the X Factor "torn the family apart". Olly confirmed his no-show at the wedding on The Voice, telling Will.i.am: "I was on X Factor and I couldn't make his wedding because I was on the show.".
