A KNIFEMAN has been shot dead by police in Paris after he reportedly ran at cops in complete silence with a blade in each hand. The suspect is said to have "thrown himself" at officers in Dugny, seven miles from the city centre, this morning. An investigating source revealed the details around the standoff.

They said the man was sitting at a bus stop with a knife in each hand. "When police turned up, he ran towards them, without saying a word," the source added. One of the officers then used an electric stun gun but failed to control the crazed man. Another officer then quickly opened fire with his pistol and hit the suspect in the chest.

There were attempts to revive the man but he was declared dead at the scene. An investigation was immediately launched by the Seine-Saint-Denis territorial security service, as well as the National Police General Inspectorate. Police and forensics were seen at the site of the man's death earlier today.
