HAVE you ever looked at a laundry label and were utterly bemused by what the symbols all mean?. While some of them are pretty self-explanatory - such as the temperature the clothing should be washed at - there are others that are more confusing. And one woman admitted she'd been left stunned after discovering the meaning of one of the images - a square with a dot in the middle of it.

Mum-of-three Holly took to TikTok to share her revelation, as she showed the laundry label on her duvet. She zoomed in on the symbols, before using her iPhone to look up the 'laundry care' pictures. And as she did so, it was revealed that the image actually indicates the maximum temperature that an item can be tumble dried at.

"Please tell me I'm not the only one who DID NOT know this hack?" Holly wrote over the top of the TikTok video. "Just casually asking in the group chat if I can tumble dry something and they teach me this little hack!" she captioned the clip. "Have I been living under a rock??".

Lots of people are trying to limit the use of their tumble dryers due to the cost of living crisis. And another assumption is that the appliances aren't eco friendly. But an expert from AO.com has explained that it's not always the case. "Older models of tumble dryers were indeed energy guzzlers yet this myth that tumble dryers can’t be energy-efficient has been blown out of the water in recent years," Gwilym Snook, appliance expert at AO.com, said.
