Piers Morgan has claimed Hugh Grant would snap in half in the event they had a physical fight as a bitter social media argument spiralled between the pair. The gloves came off on Friday after the government ruled out a reopening of the Leveson Inquiry - a legal case Hugh has famously been pushing for. The original inquiry led to the creation of new rules surrounding the way the press operate - and while some have called for tighter controls of the press, others have suggested further regulation could lead to censorship.
A bitter feud erupted between Piers, 59, and and Hugh, 64, in light of the latest ruling, however, as the former Good Morning Britain host accused the latter of being a "hypocrite", dragged up the Notting Hill star's past arrest for being caught in the act with a prostitute, and added claims that the actor had taken money from News UK owner Rupert Murdoch to appear in films. Hugh has furiously denied he accepted money to act for the business mogul, and tempters have flared online.
Following the government ruling, a quote by Hugh went viral showing him stating: “I have some sympathy, when I’m in a generous mood, for politicians terrified of the Murdochs.” Reacting to the line, Piers raged on X: "REMINDER: Hugh Grant took many millions of pounds from Rupert Murdoch to make movies for him. #hypocrite.".
But Hugh slammed back at the YouTube star, writing: "Bulls**t. The last time I worked for a Murdoch owned company was in 1994. Which was long before I knew anything about his papers’ methods. Since then I have turned down every single job offer emanating from a Murdoch owned company.".
