With a career spanning nearly three decades, Pink has been a household name for many - but some of her devoted fans have only just discovered the surprising origins of her stage name. Born Alecia Beth Moore-Hart, Pink began her musical journey at 15 with the short-lived girl group Choice. Her debut solo album, Can't Take Me Home, earned double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America in 2000. Since then, she's racked up an impressive array of accolades, including three Grammy Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, four Billboard Music Awards, seven MTV VMAs, two MTV EMAs, and two Brit Awards.

Her extensive discography boasts hits like Just Give Me a Reason, So What, Try, Lady Marmalade, True Love, Raise Your Glass, Cover Me In Sunshine, Just Like Fire, and What About Us. Despite her global success, many fans remain unaware of the true meaning behind her moniker, often assuming it's simply a fondness for the colour pink. However, a statement on Life and Style, shared on IMDb, reveals the surprising, X-rated origins of her stage name, leaving some fans stunned: "I thought Pink got her name from her infamous hair colour. Anyone else? No?.

"Ok. Turns out, Alecia Beth Moore didn't get her inspiration from a bottle of L'Oréal. Instead, the What About Us singer came up with the moniker while watching Reservoir Dogs - and the meaning is actually quite risqué. She explained: "My best friend had never seen a white girl's vagina before so he asked me if I could see it, so I showed it to him and he said 'It's pink!. ' Then my friends started calling me Mr. Pink. " If you're unfamiliar with Quentin Tarantino's violent film, Steve Buscemi's character is also named 'Mr. Pink'." However, she admitted that not everyone is pleased with how she came up with her stage name.

"I've been receiving complaints for a very long time. I'm Ok with it," she said. Reacting to this, one shocked Reddit user commented: "And I thought all along it was her pink hair." Another user suggested: "Isn't it because she used to blush easily as a child? ". A third user added: "She told Radio Disney it was because of her blushing. That was the family safe explanation. She also said it's a vagina reference." Another user speculated: "I think she made that stuff up so she can call herself Pink.".
