Queen Letizia was the image of elegance in a patterned green dress this afternoon, as she presented awards at the Royal Academy of Sciences of Spain Foundation (FRACE) this afternoon. The royal, 52, beamed as she attended the event in Madrid, to reward 'Young Female Scientific Talent. She was pictured clapping during the festivities, sporting a sophisticated high-neck frock. It featured trumpet sleeves and a flowy skirt which cinched at the waist; accessorised with brown suede boots.

The cool toned hues came together in an abstract pattern, the perfectly neutral-toned look for winter. The mother-of-two styled her chestnut tresses in loose waves, and - for contrast - opted for glam make-up with warm peachy tones. The awards' aim is to 'promote the development of science in Spain', and support 'women who are developing a career based on their scientific talent'. The accolades can be received in four categories: Mathematics and Related Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Related Sciences, Biology, Geology and Related Sciences - and Applications of Science to Technology.

'Scientists of Spanish nationality can aspire to the awards, as well as foreigners whose professional career has been developed mainly in Spain, and who in September 2024 will be 45 years old or younger,' the royal website reads. 'Candidates must have made outstanding contributions to science, whether in research, development, innovation or teaching. Your activity may have been developed in academic, business or administration fields.'.

It comes as Letizia was last week radiant in a pink power suit as she chaired the Instituto Cervantes' Patronage with King Felipe. The reigning couple, dressed in sophisticated business casual attire, took to El Pardo Palace in central Spain to attend the Instituto Cervantes meeting. Instituto Cervantes is Spain's public institution that promotes the teaching, study, and use of the Spanish language worldwide.

Former journalist Letizia increased the style stakes in the boardroom in a blush rose suit paired with a crimson red top and matching kitten heels.

The 52-year-old complemented the look with a pair of striking drop earrings featuring diamonds and a singular ruby stone. King Felipe, 57, looked equally as smart in a grey suit with a pink tie to match the colour of his wife's outfit. The royal couple presented the 2024 Cervantes Prize to South-Korean hispanist Park Chul before chairing the meeting. Letizia and Felipe, who are parents to Leonor, Princess of Asturias, 19, and Infanta Sofia, 17, chair the meeting alongside the board of trustees annually.

It's been a busy few weeks for the Queen, who earlier looked chic once again - in an emerald green frock as she chaired an event for World Cancer Day in Madrid. The royal stepped out in the Spanish capital in a vibrant ensemble as she led the event with ease. The commemorative occasion, which is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), was established in 2000. It was made to raise awareness about the disease and encourage people to understand how cancer can affect lives.

Letizia put her best fashion foot forward in a Persian green dress by Dandara Spain, which she has re-worn on several occasions, including when she visited the legacy of Carmen Martín Gaite in Salamanca last February. The mother-of-two turned heads in the ensemble, which consisted of a high keyhole neckline and a ruched waist to show off her slim frame. The frock fell elegantly to just below her knee and she paired it with a pair of pointed nude kitten heels.
