Ruth Langsford has shared a major update with fans about her mum’s health, after she was rushed to hospital three weeks ago with a broken pelvis. Joan, 94, who also has dementia, suffered the painful injury after a fall, leaving Ruth desperately worried and regularly updating concerned fans on social media with her progress.
Now, after revealing yesterday that Joan was finally discharged from hospital, sharing a sweet video of her mum back home and cuddling her dog, Maggie - Ruth has revealed that Joan, despite the seriousness of her injury, is in fighting form. “She's doing alright, she's a warrior my mum, she's titanium. I've been worried about her”, she revealed in a video on xx.
“She had a fall, middle of December and fractured her pelvis which is really painful. I said at the time thank goodness she hasn't broken anything but the doctor said that a fracture is worse, it takes longer to heal. She was in so much pain. It's been horrible. We only got her out of the hospital on Friday.
She went on: “I couldn't take Maggie into the hospital to see her, Maggie saw her and we're all happy again. It's been a tough one. I know for so many people when you have an elderly parent who needs care, it's difficult isn't it. I love my mum so I don't resent it and it could have been a lot lot worse. “.
Her mum's accident was the end to an undoubtedly difficult year for Ruth, who announced her split from her Belfast-born broadcasting husband Eamonn Holmes in May, the former couple spending their first Christmas apart in many years as Eamonn spent the festive season with new girlfriend, Katie Alexander.
