Jordan Maclachlan, 26, from Ardnamurchan in the Scottish Highlands, died on Friday while serving as a medic with the Ukrainian army, his family told the BBC.
“Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others,” the family statement said. “We are waiting for further information from the Foreign Office as information is very limited. “Jordan was a fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”.
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the broadcaster: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities.”. Maclachlan is not the first Briton to die while fighting in Ukraine.
In November, Callum Tindal-Draper, 22, was killed while fighting in Ukraine for the country’s foreign volunteer platoon. Tindal-Draper, 22, travelled to the country despite his family’s pleas for him not to.
